Mare and Cassie joined my family when I lived in Colorado.  I lived on top of a mountain at an elevation of 9100' near a small community West of Denver called Conifer.  I spent many hours pleasure riding "the girls".  My horse carried me to many beautiful destinations; places I would not otherwise have had opportunities to visit without her.
In Memory...
Mare was a bay Quarter horse who was foaled in Colorado in March 1983.  She came to live with me in the summer of 1992.  Mare died in June 2005 after a long battle with respiratory illness.  She was buried on my former farm in Powhatan, VA.  Thanks Mare...you added so much to me life.  Caring for you gave me comfort during difficult times.  I'll always treasure my memories of you.

Cassie is a leopard Appaloosa who was also foaled in Colorado in 1979.  Cassie came to live with me in the spring of 1993.  She was my former husband's horse.  When we relocated to Virginia, the horses accompanied us on the long cross country journey.  Sadly, I was forced to part with Cassie in 2005 due to a divorce.  I was faced with difficult and painful decisions about what I needed to do to be responsible for the farm animals.  I re-homed Cassie.  She lives on a beautiful farm in Culpeper, VA.  I miss her but am comforted to know that she is loved and happy on her new farm where she's part of a small herd of older horses and has many acres of green grass to graze.
