In Memory...

I said my final so-long to Diva on November 22nd, 2006
I'll always miss your sweet face my friend.
Thanks for the memories Diva...
I lost Diva in November of 2006 at the age of 8 1/2 to Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM).

Please help the researchers help the fancy find answers for ways to reduce incidence of this devastating disease and options for early diagnostics and better treatment for affected Great Danes.

In 2007, research is underway at Texas A & M University and the University of Pennsylvania to learn more about DCM in Great Danes.  If you have a Great Dane (either healthy of affected by DCM) PLEASE contact me (Kristine) or visit this link at the Great Dane Club of America web site to see how you can help.  The Texas A & M study asks only that you collect and submit simple to obtain DNA swabs from your Dane to help further their research efforts.  If you have a Great Dane diagnosed with DCM or know of someone who does, information and support can be found at the DCM Great Danes Group on the Yahoo forums.

Diva's web pages remain here as a celebration and tribute to her life.  I miss my Diva-girl.  She gave me so much joy with her special personality and by giving me the rewarding experience of whelping her 2 litters, raising 2 of her daughters, and now her grand-son.  Diva touched many lives through her children.  They continue to be her living legacy.  Always in my heart sweet girl...

Diva descended from the same line as my first Great Dane "Zack" who was also bred by Gayle Roberts ~  Ga-Mac Great Danes in Zephyrhills, Florida.  I'd like to thank Gayle for enriching my life through her friendship and for allowing me to love two of her wonderful Danes.  Zack was my very special companion from 1983 until 1989.  Photos of Zack may be viewed by clicking on his link in the Memorials section of this web site.

Diva was my foundation bitch.  Although Diva earned points toward her AKC championship, she wasn't thrilled with competing.  I decided to "retire" her from the show ring and allow her opportunity to have puppies.  Diva gave me two beautiful litters.

In 2001 I bred Diva to Ch. Nuttree's Saint Patrick (bred, owned and loved by Mel and Janie Pronto - Nuttree Great Danes).  Diva and Patrick produced Ch. Janus Providence Moon a "singleton" pup I call Phoebe.  She is my first Dane to carry my kennel name and my first AKC Champion.  Phoebe had two litters.  You'll find photos of Ch Phoebe's pups at these web pages ~ Ch. • In 2002, Diva I bred again; this time to my black dog Kaleb.  Together they produced a litter of 9!  From their litter I kept a black bitch pup I call "Seven" (Ch. Janus USAF Raven).  Seven and her litter brother Zeus both competed in AKC conformation competition and both earned points toward their AKC championships.  Seven completed her championship in May 2008.  In 2007, Ch. Seven was bred to Windwood Halo's Back N Black.  Together they produced a litter of 4 beautiful babies.  I co-own a bitch pup from this litter with Sheri and Randy Goncher (Windwood Great Danes) -
  • Windwood Halos Gift From Janus (aka - Halo).  Hopefully, one day Halo will be bred and her children will carry on Diva's line.
